Kedron-Wavell and The Sands Social Celebrate Local Impact of Queensland Community Grants
The announcement of Round 125 of Queensland’s Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) highlights the powerful impact community clubs can have in helping fund vital local initiatives, with almost $19.5 million distributed to nearly 800 organisations across the state.
As community-focused clubs, Kedron-Wavell and The Sands Social are proud to contribute to programs like the GCBF, which reinvest funds into grassroots organisations delivering important services, projects and events across Queensland. These grants support everything from facility upgrades and equipment purchases to training programs and community development opportunities, creating real benefits for local communities.
One local organisation to benefit in the latest round is Chermside Historical Precinct, which received a $35,000 GCBF grant to support its ongoing work preserving and sharing the history of our region.
In addition to supporting the broader GCBF initiative, Kedron-Wavell and The Sands Social are also committed to giving back directly through their own Community Grants Program, which opens again this year to support local not-for-profit organisations making a difference in Brisbane’s northside communities.
Applications for the 2026 Kedron-Wavell and The Sands Social Community Grants Program open on 1 May 2026 and close on 31 July 2026, with eligible organisations able to apply for grants ranging from $500 to $10,000. The program provides funding across areas including community welfare, education, sport, health, arts, cultural development and environmental initiatives.
Together, these funding streams demonstrate how clubs like Kedron-Wavell and The Sands Social play an important role in helping generate meaningful local impact, ensuring community groups have the resources they need to continue supporting, enriching and strengthening the places we all call home.
